2 things to consider.

1) fast connections are indeed possible at NRT. All of Delta's gates are a short distance from each other. The longest walk is maybe 8 minutes if you're familiar with the layout. Security is usually very fast moving too.

2) flights into NRT are more often early than late. That 45 minutes may become 60 or 75.
