From MIA you can get almost anywhere in the Caribbean in one hop, two hops to the smallest islands. SJU has plenty of variety. Old San Juan is fantastic with El Morro (the fortress), El Convento (now a hotel), restaurants, plazas, cobblestones, etc. East of San Juan is a rain forest, and there are beaches everwhere. There are a few other SJU threads in this forum with more specific tips.
