IIRC, one subtle difference between the VIP2 and VIPOW is that for the VIP2, you have to ticket by the expiry date, while for the VIPOW, you must complete travel by the expiry date. This may give you a bit longer yet to use those VIP2s.

My guess is that AA will offer to re-issue the VIP2s as VIPOWs only. After all, you're not using them by the expiry date, so...

Better yet, just make use of them and enjoy!
