I did an Alamo rental in early December using contract ID 7015132, which promised 1500 Hilton Hhonors bonus points when using the HH Amex. Only 250 points posted; after the "Allow 6-8 weeks for posting" on the postcard with the offer was up, I sent an e-mail with no reply in the promised time; then I called. After time on hold, they said if the offer expired on 3/31/10, allow 12 weeks after that. Do you think that's credible, or is it something made up as people have suggested happens?

I have a future rental booked with this offer; I'm wondering whether to stay with it or change the code to one giving 1.5 Southwest credits, which could be slightly more useful to me. I have an e-coupon covering most of the rental, so the cost is trivial: all-in for a 3-day rental at $22 with the HH code, $28 with the WN code. WN would also let me use a Visa Signature which I understand is better than the Amex if there's any damage, but I hope not to test that. So, any thoughts about changing to the WN code rather than have headaches waiting for HH points? And about getting the previous bonus to credit?
