I've been on a long term work assignment in the area southwest of Houston between Houston and Galveston. There are about 10 Choice hotel properties in this area. I stayed at several of them while trying to take advantage of the triple rewards promotion and only found one or two of them that I would ever think of staying at again in the future. The Comfort Inn at 5755 Bayport Blvd. in Seabrook, TX is very new and evereything about it is very nice. The Comfort Inn at 320 Highway 146 North in Texas City, TX was not so nice but had the fastest internet service I've ever had at any hotel anywhere. Don't tell anybody, but I was able to download 1 gig movies in a few minutes instead of an hour or more at other hotels. Unfortunately, the breakfast was inedible unless you love sausage biscuits. If you do, you gotta get there early because they don't replenish what they put out first thing, 6:30 in the mornings. There's nothing left to eat by 8:30AM.
Here's my strategy for selecting Choice Hotel properties. You have to go to the hotel sites on the internet. I look for flat screen TVs in the pictures of the rooms. If they don't show the TV, then it's always the old picture tube kind. My HDTV indicator almost always relates positively to everything else about the hotel.
