Agreed. Absolutely legally unenforceable. Case in point, my CO itin TUS-SIN went TUS-IAH-NRT-GUM-NRT-SIN on the outbound with an 8 hr layover on GUM. Where I had a breakfast meeting. Yes, the itin certainly generates valuable OP miles but I have business in different locations in W Pac and SE Asia and this is the most efficient way to wrap it up. Because of late outbound, I ended up being rerouted and having to postpone my meeting to my return flight next week, but the point was, it was part of the purpose of the trip and I checked in as scheduled with no problems.

DL wouldn't ticket this, for one thing, and then, imagine the debate about the routing. Their particular imputation of motive is unenforceable, which they probably know or they would have tried to enforce this already.

What puzzles me is that they give away so many SM, so readily, and it's widely agreed that they're worth a fraction of other FFP currency, so why balk at this? It's not as if DL.COM is friendly for segment/mileage runs anyway.
