Sometimes I will use A west to check in for B/C flights when things are especially chaotic over there. Folks for 700 usually start filtering in around 2pm so the whole place is typically pretty empty between 12-3.

That said, if you are parking and plan to go to the club first, I agree with hginPHL that it is easier to check in at B/C. Less of a walk to the car on the return.
USAir and a couple other carriers were notorious for loading dozens of flights as "direct" flights to Europe, but having a change of plane.

You'd have the CLT-LGW flight with about 15 different flight numbers because USAir wanted SAN-LGW to look like a non-stop to the travel agents. Same with the MCO-LGW, BNA-LGW, DFW-LGW, BHM-LGW, and MSY-LGW. They were all different flight numbers into CLT and out of CLT to LGW, but it was the same plane from CLT-LGW...
