The different hotel chains cater to different standards (and expectations). Best Western in the States and Australia are mostly motels or family run inns, while in Asia, they are mostly 3* franchises. So if you are expecting business class treatment, you may want to stay at other hotel chains (such as Starwood, Hilton etc).

Regarding the Rewards Program, I don't think they have much values, except maybe in Asia, where the hotels have different classes of rooms, but still, don't expect too much. The rest have standard rooms so you won't get much of an upgrade, though the local proprietors may have certain nicer rooms which they'll reserve for you.

I've been a BW Platinum for many years, but I stay at BW mainly for the price and location and not for the frills.
