Another big +1 for Roaring Fork in Scottsdale. Go during happy hour and the big ... burger is a great bargain.

If you feel the need to brave the crowd at Pizzeria Bianco in downtown Phoenix, go early, I would suggest no later than 3:30 and be prepared to wait the hour and a half until they open. They have a wine bar next door that opens early and you can get drinks there while you're waiting. The crowd is very civilized, never seen or heard of anybody arguing over who was in line first.
