I really do not see what the problem is.

Take, as an example, someone with QP membership which expired on 31MAR06 - their QFF membership year ends on 30NOV, and they qualified for SG on 31AUG05 - so they were upgraded to SG for the balance of the membership year (end of NOV05) plus all of the next year (NOV06) - the remaining five months will be left on hold, until the member drops below SG (i.e., tentatively, until the end of April 07). This will keep changing if the SG status is renewed.

All this new feature is doing is telling those of us with QP membership (whether it be active (for NB or PS members) or on hold (for SG and WP members) when that membership will expire, based on current membership. Of course, with elite membership renewing, this date will keep on rolling forward, but I do not think it is a useless addition, in fact, I think it might be useful to some.
