Yes, it is primarily the successor to Amerisuites. While Hawthorn Place got sold off by Hyatt and Summerfield Suites is still part of the Hyatt family, I am not sure how many (if any) of those brands' properties -- land and/or plant -- became Hyatt Place hotels.
One example is here in Broward County, which had three AmeriSuites locations - two AmeriSuites (FLL Airport North and Plantation) have been converted to HPs, while the Weston location transitioned to Hawthorn (it was never remodeled into an HP).
