I'm planning to spend 2 months in Europe, visiting multiple countries (Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and France), so I can honestly say that any and all of them is my "main destination"... kind of. I'm planning to enter EU either through Paris or Madrid. I hold a US Green Card.

Now, the problem is that consulates seem to be thoroughly confused by all this. They want something simple to believe in.

I do realize that I will have to come up with some "hotel reservations" and then likely cancel all of them. What a shame we have to play these games...

Now the real question - given that I have a choice of what consulate to apply through (I can "adjust" my schedule to show that I spend more time in any particular country) - what consulate would YOU recommend me to apply through? My goal is simple --- LESS HASSLE.
