I took my family of 5 to Vegas in December. Due to baggage fees I chose to fly SWA at a cost of $2500 rather than giving AA the business...figured it would save baggage fees on 3 of the kids. Just yesterday I needed to book my son and a friend on a July STL-DEN trip...again booked SWA solely due to the baggage fees. The ticket cost was the same on both airlines.
I happen to like AA very much and haven't posted this as a rant. Just wondering how much business AA and others lose as a result of the ever increasing fees.
This just means the AA strategy is work.
Reduce domestic flights, reduce AA demand, reduce AA domestic revenue.
WN bag flies free and B6 first bag free are increasing flights and revenue.
If it was not for the major's all the same fortify hub strategy the non mjaors would have NOT be allowed to grow.
