If you break the while trip into four sectors and give 75% of the difference between J and F on the one sector it's not a kick in the arse off of the figure MileageMaven received although probably still short of a few miles I suspect.
What the legislation requires is 75% of the
price paid, not of the difference. Thus, if you calculate by sector (which is more favourable to the OP in this case than pro-rating by distance), the OP 'paid' 60K for each sector and would therefore be owed 75% of 60K, in other words 45K rather than 17.778K. The OP is therefore owed considerably more than what (s)he received.
