You base yourself on the difference but this is not what has to be repaid under relevant EU legislation on downgrades.

Ditto. The differential is irrelevant. Even if F taxes were lower than C, the airline would still have to pay 75% of the amount paid (possibly pro-rated) when downgrading someone on a long-haul.
