You can only use the lounges if you are flying on that partners flight that day as a QF Club member, being located in Europe its quite possible the OP has clocked up the SC's with Finnair or Iberia flights where QF Club is a useless piece of plastic card when it comes to benefits and lounge access. Depending on your reason for flying priority checkin can also be as big a benefit as lounges to some.
