Newly constructed Hyatt Places vs. rehashed Amerisuites

I started looking into this as well. I am new to Hyatt, a diamond comp from Hilton...I have enough activity now to qualify as diamond on both Hilton and Hyatt annually. My first stay with Hyatt this year was at the Portland OR Hyatt Place...brand new construction...nice place, nice introduction to the HP brand. So a few weeks later when I was going to Boise, I booked at Hyatt Place there. Noticeable difference. Yes, remodeling had obviously occured, but you could tell the property was older and of lower quality construction. Bathroom was not as nice, drywall looked cheaper, and lots of wind noise in the room on a windy night. Kind of left me scratching my head.

Discovered later that this in all likelihood was a former Amerisuites property. Not that it was terrible, but it wasn't as nice as the Portland OR HP.

FWIW, I think you can see a list of the former Amerisuites locations that are now Hyatt Places at: www.amerisuites.com and then just click "choose a hotel" and a drop down list will appear. I noticed the new construction Portland OR location was not on this list but the older Boise ID property was. Based on my limited experience, I will be checking this list, trying to choose newly constructed Hyatt Places when possible vs the rehashed Amerisuites. I am also going to do a screenprint of the list in case it gets pulled down off the internet.
Not sure if Hyatt bought any other chains and relabeled them as Hyatt Places?
