They can be very strict on this regard. My neighbour miscalculated by a week. So it delayed the process by many months because she had to requalify.
If you are married to a Canadian Citizen and you can prove that you were abroad TOGETHER then you can always maintain PR status. When reapplying for your PR card, make sure you state and prove that you were with your spouse.
