As someone who was (previously) eligible for the employee family member rate, yes I received Diamond benefits on family rate stays. This was a few years ago, so you should doublecheck to make sure it hasn't changed. Hyatt's employee nights perk is quite generous, so it would be very foolish for an employee to spend money to earn Diamond status (and no doubt not within a employee's budget).
