Property: Fullerton Marriott at California State University
Stay: 2 nights (first time)
Greeting: Welcome as a platinum member.
Room Upgrade: Initially none was pre-blocked, but I called the PP reservation line and got moved up to a concierge level room. This property doesn't have many suites or rooms with views, so it is probably the best upgrade you can expect. The upgrade should be automatic for PP and platinum members.
Suite Upgrade: no
Special requests: Got a refrigerator after I asked the PP reservation line to request it for me.
Other: This is actually a good property for platinum members since they get free internet (they use Merlot so no Boingo roaming at this property) /WFB which would cost $9.95/day otherwise. Breakfast is also free for platinum members on weekends (hours are 6 am to 10 am - note that these hours are early compared to East Coast properties which usually start breakfast at 7 am on the weekends). The CL opens for breakfast at 6 am and that runs to 10 am (again about 30 minutes earlier than most CL in East Coast hotels).
The gym is pretty good in the cardio area (Precor with individual tv monitors). The weights area is weaker (a few machines and dumbbells). The gym is probably a bit above average for a FS Marriott but nothing like most Hyatt hotels or Marriott properties that give discounted/free gym passes to nice gyms outside of the hotel.
