Sir, you made an a.. out of yourself by become a TSO, right? or that seems to be the common opinion on this site....

As far as this article goes, yeah, it's interesting, but it's pretty far off in the future for something like this to be implemented. And there will always be new technology. And ALL technology will always have failures - to develop any device/equipment to detect explosives, you have to sort if guess how those explosive might be presented to you.

Take RDX. It's a solid. But it can be "disolved" into moat any fluid, such as water, and no etd or test strip currently out there will detect it. Then you "reconstitute" the RDX, a process that takes you maybe 30 minutes, and you now have a solid explosive, though becaue it was wet think of it like a soft clay, sort of. And it will explode.

How does anyone predict all the possible avenues a person or a group will try to develop to smuggle explosives to any place they want? I don't think you can.

Yeah, in a handful of years there will be better ways to detect some exposives, but as far as this article goes, well, it's not too helpful. I mean, if you didn't realize better technologies were on the way - for any and everything - where have you been hiding?
