No-I don't like announcements
1. They are often garbled and static full.
2. If the speaker is above my seat, they are loud and disturbing.
3. What is the point in pointing out places of interest when you are seen with suspicion if you look out of the window at monuments etc?
4. Often local noise by other passengers make the announcements undecipherable.
5. As mentioned by some one, weather conditions, arrival gate, connection information etc would be useful just before arrival.
