I am really losing my patience with Delta.com. I have tried all week to search for a SEA-Europe round trip ticket for February.
I have no problems getting an outbound flight. However, the inbound is a problem every single time I do a search. Not one return trip will get me back to SEA on the day I depart Europe. They either overnight me in AMS for 18 hours or triple connect me through DTW and ATL to get me back after midnight.
For example, searching SEA-LHR, the return flights are LHR-DTW-ATL-SEA (departing 925am and arriving SEA at 1210am the next day). ...! Where's the LHR-DTW-SEA or LHR-MSP-SEA or LHR-JFK-SEA flights? I know they exist. How? Because if you do a reverse search (so LHR-SEA r/t) departing on the same day as I'm trying to return from SEA-LHR, a whole lot of flight options appear that get me home on the same day at a decent time in the afternoon. And the fare class is the same or even lower than the fare class offered on the overnight flights back from Europe.
What gives? Now I have to call the airline and probably get charged the $20 call center fee which I'll have to call three times to get reversed again.
PS - I have just done a search on kayak.com and wonderful itineraries show up for half the price of Delta.com for Delta flights! Oh, and the return goes right through JFK and gets me back home at a decent time. UGH!
