Thanks Channa. We are going to stick with EWR as hubby has to fly out (EWR) shortly after our return. But I truly appreciate the help!

So, nothing has opened as of yet, so we are planning to do the standby strategy. I am closely watching the status of earlier flights to watch for amount of people checked in for F, and the standby and upgrade standby lists - and will decide just how early to get there based on those totals. Question is, if we get placed on a standby list, will we have the priority of a displaced F passenger? And will we be prioritized on the upgrade waitlist as well (as displaced first)? And to complicate things - if they have no shows in F, will they upgrade before going to standby list - and how do they handle it if we were on the top of both lists????

Once before, we had missed a flight after previously being EUA'd and were jumped directly to the top of both standby lists - but never made the flight and cancelled instead, so not sure how that turned out. Different siuation, we were in R class, upgraded from V - this time we are FN class (both Plats) - plus we are not actually displaced this time, just trying for an earlier flight. Have asked Elite line and they are not sure how we will be prioritized. Hate to get to the airport at 6am for a 9pm flight if we will be dropped to the bottom of both lists! Hate to spend 50K for a one way coach seat!
