BA get it about right.
Yesterday, on a slightly delayed and very full Delta domestic US flight, one of the FAs insisted on getting on the PA every 90 seconds during a 30 minute boarding process, to drone the same message, which went something like:
"Ladies and gentleman, please, DO NOT PUT YOUR WINTER COATS IN THE OVERHEAD LOCKERS. These lockers are for rollaboards only. Please put your laptops, handbags and other small carry ons UNDER THE SEAT IN FRONT OF YOU. Do not put your winter coats and other small items in the overhead lockers - they are for rollaboards only. Please let those great people behind you squeeze past you so we can get everyone boarded as soon as possible. This is a very full flight and we're currently five minutes after departure and if everyone boards as quickly as possible, we can make sure we're not delayed any further. Thank you, and welcome aboard".
As one of the first to board, I was sitting in row 1 and was massively tired but couldn't doze off because of this announcement repeatedly droning on. Eventually I gave up trying to sleep, and instead resorted in counting the seconds between each announcement. For the next 20 minutes, the FA never went over 2 minutes between ending the announcement and starting it again, which is why now know it pretty much off by heart
