Three times a day? I'm checking at least three times an hour since the flight is tomorrow.
Weather.com says 71/72 in LAX, which would be okay (I did check LAX, no go anyway). PHX is going to be 76/78, while that is only 5-6 degrees difference, I think there is a significant difference between 71 and 76/72 and 78 in poolside comfort.
South Padre - 66/70
Corpus Christi - 61/70
San Diego - 70/72
San Diego would be okay, but not as warm as Phoenix.
one option you have is book a later-in-the-day flight anywhere with the CP, then go to the gate and get on a standby list for the same flight the CP earner is booked on. Many flights are fully booked or even oversold but then go out with at least 1 empty seat. They can also push a non rev employee/airline passenger to the jumpseat etc to clear a standby.
If it doesn't work out and neither of you end up taking that flight, well, then at least most airports are ~70 degrees indoors
