The One Bad Thing About the Companion Pass

So, my wife and I were scheduled to go to Clearwater Beach, Florida this weekend, but as it turns out the weather is not going to be that great, so the beauty of Southwest of course is we were able to cancel the entire trip and not lose a single red cent.

We'd still like to go somewhere, preferably somewhere warm, about the only WN destination that fits that bill this weekend is PHX. So, I check award availibility and nothing, check a few more times and finally a Standard Award opens up on the Saturday morning MCI-PHX non-stop, I grab it for myself and then go start checking and seeing what our hotel and rental car options are. A few hours later I go back and I'm still keeping an eye for a return flight to maybe open up Stanard availability, though I'm just going to use half a Freedom Award if need be, I'm happy being able to get the trip for 1/2 Standard + 1/2 Freedom given it is a holiday weekend and all. Anyway, the problem is that the flight I got my Stanard Award on is now completely sold out ... the one bad thing about the Companion Pass being there has to be at least one seat available. This stinks, I can't get my wife on the flight now!

I'm still hoping a single seat will open up on the flight in the next twelve hours or so ... we'll see!
