Both AA ACs are on the 2nd floor, above the ticketing level. The club in Terminal 9, for domestic flights, is newer. The club in Terminal 8, for int'l flights, is bigger. Both offer the same amenities, so I'm not sure one is better than the other. If you are departing for LHR, the Terminal 9 club will be much closer to your departure gate, though it is outside of security.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to wait until the last minute to leave for your gate, because the security lines can be lengthy and I've never been offered a bypass as a premium passenger.
AA doesn't have a Flagship lounge at JFK yet. There are no 1W F lounges in Terminals 8 or 9; you'd have to go to the CX or BA terminal, a bit of a hike from AA.
