The LEX airport has no TSO at the exit from the sterile area. Instead, there are several rotating doors. If someone from outside tries to step into the door, the sensors on the floor immediately stop the door from turning. The doors are big enough to allow you to roll your roll-a-board through it.

This may not work in larger airports where the lines to get out might get long at times but the solution is largely scaleable with more doors. Got to be cheaper than paying someone to sit there all the time.
