Tfung, definitely take BA First! No doubt about that at all!

In terms of using BA Exec Club instead of AA miles, it is hard to qualify for BA Silver or Gold if you normally purchase economy tickets. It is easier to achieve BA Silver or Gold (vs. AA Plat / EXP) if you purchase first class tickets. One of the down sides of using BA Exec Club is that you do not earn 500 mile upgrade certificates on AA. You also won't have access to the Platinum Centers in the airports, but since BA Silver/Gold have access to the Admirals club, then not having Platinum center is no problem.
