You are (both) correct. Thank you. The fare is refundable—not that CO makes it very easy to know. Are you getting this CO Insider?

Here's how I discovered it is refundable.

In advanced search, I put the itinerary in as "economy" specifying fare code B. (Before I think I was choosing economy with unrestricted fare, but I'm not sure.) I picked my outbound and return flights (all segments came up as B-UPs, natch). Oddly, the total fare was about $500 less than it was yesterday. I checked the fare basis code: BLW0CRB. It said "TICKET IS NON-REFUNDABLE." Hmmm. Half a grand less but specifically non-refundable. Not a coincidence.

Then I noticed CO.com had two upsale options:

1. Upgrade to International Business Class for $174.00 more. Why? The B-UPs get me the same thing.

2. Unrestricted Fare for $490.00 more:
  • Refundable Fare [emphasis added]
  • Fee-waived itinerary changes
  • Fee-waived, same-day flight changes (when available)
  • OnePass Elite Qualification bonus

Clicking on that option, the fare basis code becomes BOX and the rest, as they say, is history.

Not sure what you mean by "support." Won't B-UPs be unavailable after status expires?
