if you try to put in a redemption in the normal way it wont find anything if it isnt possible on ba metal, it will then give you the option of including one world partners or something along those lines which will then give you aa or any other OW partner.

Odd. I recently tried to do that for MIA-LIM and also for JFK-LIM, knowing that AA and LA fly those routes and BA's engine tried to book me via LHR-MAD-LIM (on a BA codeshare on BA/IB metal)!
