I've never had a glass bottle break in my checked luggage and I take them nearly every time I actually check luggage.

Beer bottles, wine bottles, spirit bottles, etc have always made it through successfully. Just wrap them individually into some clothing and that's it. I wouldn't take too many at a time in the same bag though.
