My initial thought too - but it is just odd enough that there had to be a reason.

Did she need it to support providing compensation? Is it true that there have been been elevator issues and she wants to prove something to the owners? Maybe she isn't really "the manager" and was just the highest ranking person there at the time...

Quite honestly, if I were the OP, I would have asked why!
