if i were the op i would write a letter to the manager's supervisor and the appropriate hotel licensing/safety board. the property knew the elevator had problems but had not gotten around to fixing it. the fact that another elevator was down really makes me wonder about their maintainence. i wonder if they are so cavalier with more critical safety equipment. i don't know what you should be compensated personally but at a minimum i would have expected the manager to take YOUR name and the manager write a letter of apology to YOU.
