Actual flight seat inventory available / booked?

OK so I use ExpertFlyer and am familiar with what they offer in terms of checking seat availability, but does anyone out there know if there is a way of checking ACTUAL number of passengers booked in F/J/Y versus seats available.

With EF you can tell how full a flight is overall but if Y is heavily overbooked then J shows a reduced number... it would be nice to know the exact number booked in Y / J versus actual seats - this would be a much better indicator whtehr an OP-UP will be available on a given flight or not...

Anybody know any tools / sites to find this out? Or is it strictly internal for the airline themself?
