i was once stuck in an elevator all by myself at an embassy suites for over 3 hours....it stopped just before my floor & they managed to open the door a few inches so i could see people moving around....the funny thing was that is was a glass elevator so everybody on the other side could see me as well....they told me it might take a while for them to get me out so i just asked them to slide me a couple of cushions & i popped open my laptop & got comfortable....they kept apologizing & even got me some snacks & soda while i waited....finally when they got me out, the manager was there to greet me & looked extremely embarrased....i told him i was fine but they should make sure something like this does not happen again....the next morning i had a letter under my door informing me that my stay had been comped (all 3 days)....i never asked for anything but this was certainly a nice gesture....when i was checking out i was surprised to see that not only had they comped my room but also the room service & internet charges....
