Vacuum packing bags
I used Ziploc bags when I packed for our family summer vacation to California this summer. My daughter (23 yrs old) laughed at me and told me how crazy I was to go to the effort. I liked that my outfits were together and was pleased that everything was basically wrinkle free.
Fast-forward to December, my daughter and I took a trip to Florida in December. We flew into MCO and had a delay due to heavy rain before continuing onto RSW. It seems that our bags were left outside in the rain for the duration of our delay(1.5 Hr). When we finally collected our bags, they were drenched. Unfortunately, I was packing in a hurry and didn't use the Ziploc method. I had a pair of white jeans that I threw in at the last minute and whatever was on top of those stained them. I also had a brand new set of King size sheets that were ruined. I don't normally travel with sheets but we had just closed on our condo and I needed sheets to make the bed that night. Luckily, the remainder of my bedding and towels were in Extra Large Ziploc storage bags. The suitcases took days to dry out even under ceiling fans on full power.
My daughter told me that she would never again make fun of me when I pack my clothes in Ziploc bags. As a matter of fact, I bet she will be packing with them as well.
