Two Lake Champlain ferries are open this week:
1) The new route that opened last week, replacing the blown-up Crown Point Bridge. From this crossing, you would approach Lake Placid from the south.
2) The Grand Isle ferry. From here, you would approach Lake Placid from the north.
Grand Isle is too north but the new route that opened intrigues me. I just went to their website and they're saying that the trip across the lake runs every 30 minutes and it's FREE!!! I'll call them to find out if we will need reservations. Next I've got to figure out which route will be faster (the ferry to Crown Point, NY or Route 4 straight to the NY line). Thank you.
