Agreed this sort of thing is awful. I don't care whether it CNN or the BBC, it ruins the lounge completely. In a big lounge complex they can have a television room I suppose, but otherwise if people must get their moving-picture fix then they can do it at a workstation or a laptop, with headphones.
I had exactly the same problem recently in the SG F lounge at LHR. Two people watching a huge screen with some loud ballroom dancing programme on it. And around a dozen people in the lounge who would have much rather had the television off. I couldn't stand it and after I'd had the hot food I ordered immediately on arrival I left.
