I had not travelled on my own in NGCW for ages, and left the screen down until well into the meal service when I think the crew member pressed the button and the screen went up. Being British (!) I felt too embarrassed to put the screen up.

On the return, the other passenger (not British!) said "as I am going to sleep I will put the screen up" and up it went.

I think CIHY is correct and will follow this approach in future.
