Also, since I'm flying with my elementary age children who don't do well missing meals, I'm wondering if we're sleeping during a meal, does that mean we're out of luck until the next meal, or will they serve it late? I'm trying to plan how many snacks I should pack!

Thanks
Sorry no amenity for economy passengers on JAL flights, not even toothbrush (they used to have it but it has been gone for a few years). But you will have pillow, blanket and headphone.

If you miss a meal, the cabin attendant will put a sticker on your seat telling you that you were sleeping when they served the meal. They will serve you when you wake up.

JAL has set up a self-service snack and drink counter at the back of the 773 and around row 51 of the 744 called "sky-oasis". Here is a picture of the snacks. Other than those shown in the picture, there are rice crackers, tiny chocolate cake, etc. I remember they had sandwiches before but I am not sure if that's still available. But I would recommend to bring your own snacks just in case.

If you want to order special meal for your children, make sure you do that 24 hours in advance. You can find more information on JAL website (http://www.jal.co.jp/en/baby/)

PS: Here are the movie selections for Feb and March. The system on your flight is MAGIC-III (AVOD) if you are flying JL005/006. And it will most likely be MAGIC-I or II (NOT AVOD and with very limited selections) if you are flying JL047/048).

Have a pleasant flight
