If I were the 11E passenger, I would have refused to switch unless it was a parent and small child (in this case, it wasn't). I would only switch like-for-like or better. That means I wouldn't switch more than 5 rows behind.
There was nothing nice about the way she (he) asked the non rev to switch according to the above post.
