I've booked hundreds of tickets and never encountered a chart with x's and checks and pull down screens to ascertain FF points. Its NEVER an issue on the airlines I fly: I thought the purpose of the Star Alliance was uniformity between airlines.
You think SQ doesn't know that a transparent warning NO FF POINTS AWARDED ON THIS OR ANY OTHER AIRLINE wouldn't chase customers away. You think they don't KNOW this is somewhat deceptive? YOU MAY LIVE ON THE SQ WEBSITE, but most customers spend 150 seconds there.
This is not a giveaway fare, it is within range for the other carriers that do give FF miles.
However, seeing how easily some people have been bamboozled and have adopted Stockholm Syndrome in defending the practice, I would surely expect to see more of this practice, followed by the descent of the carriers as elite customers pass on future bookings.
I also note that business travellers are outraged when they are shortchanged, but are dismissive of leisure passengers, which is pretty foolish, but then again so is paying $10,000 for a 6 1/2 flight.
I don't know about schools in NYC, but in Los Angeles we were thought the difference between an ✘ and a ✔ back in primary school.
No one really flies on SQ for value, they're rarely cheaper than the competition and their FF program leaves much to desire however their model seems to work for them and their target audience. It's funny how you complained about me and others being dismissive of your post, but now you're doing exactly the same thing because we don't seem to share your opinion.
Have fun flying UA.
