Living quite close to the airport (about 10 mins away), I would not mind the airport's operating hours being expanded. Even if curfew was changed from 11pm to midnight, problems such as the TG scenario where the plane must stop in BNE, where CX must operate flight times as 9hr40m instead of 9r15m in Northern Winter and where it makes it not economically viable for SQ to operate an overnight flight to SIN.

Further, new generation aircraft are significantly quieter and there is the option that planes could be forced to depart/land over Botany Bay.
