Excess size penalty strictly enforced at LAX?

Travelling (coach K fare) from LAX to CDG on AF, I may have to check in a parcel which won't be particularly heavy (15kg), but somewhat bulky (90x70x40cm).

With the latest baggage policy revision at AFKL came a provision that reduced the maximum authorized size (now only 158cm for the sum of the 3 dimensions), with a hefty penalty (300 euros one-way when departing from CDG) for oversized items. However, I could not find on AFKL web pages the dollar amount of the penalty for luggage checked in the US. It might be much cheaper to ship the parcel separately by post, but it would be so much more convenient to just have it travel with me.

Does anyone know what the fee is in $ ? Also, is this maximum size rule strictly enforced at LAX, even for Elite+ pax ?
