From what I can find out, acrylic isn't microwave safe for effectively cooking the water up to tea temperature. At home I use a proper kettle and teacup, but neither one is exactly portable when traveling light.

Some have suggested insulated travel mugs - again, most of the aren't listed as microwave safe, and every one I've owned developed a nasty taste after a few uses. I'm beginning to think what I really want hasn't been invented yet. Following links posted by tcl I found this for myself and this one for my kid/travel companion. They're ceramic, so a bit heavy and potentially breakable, but microwave safe w/ travel lid. Am also considering getting the Guyot Squishy bowls for the cereal course - still trying to find the weight for them.
