It seems that the higher end hotels provide free breakfast to their elite members, and/or in their executive level lounges. Many of the medium to lower end hotels may provide free continental, or even full american breakfast - but at varying quality.

It seems to me (but others will undoubtly dispute my raiting) that the 2 hotel chains with complimentary breakfast, taking account both the quality of the hotel and the quality of the breakfast, is Embassy Suites, and Residence Inn by Marriott?
But remember - the Embassy Suites breakfast is made to order and fresher - better chance at better ingredients. The Residence Inn breakfast is out in serving trays, and I didn't trust the the eggs or bread products... or.....most of it. And, the breakfast rooms at RI are miniscule and often crowded. So while they may both offer complimentary bkfst., to me there is a world of difference.

For this and other reasons, I don't plan to stay at an RI again.......
