OLCI with Embedded CO/UA Codeshare
Mr Fish flew CO EWR-LAX this morning, is flying on a CO/UA codeshare LAX-SFO tomorrow morning, then home tomorrow night, CO SFO-EWR. Apparently, CO considers the codeshare and the transcon a connection, and so it won't allow him OLCI. Phoned the Elite line, who said he can only check-in at the airport in SFO. Basically, I wanted him to get on the upgrade waitlist (Plat on a B fare) - not that it really matters as there are no seats and a waitlist of 38 at T-24 - but also wanted to check him in so that I can keep an eye on seating and move him in case anything decent opens up. I know I can always call to move the seat, but it makes it much easier to just do it online.
The question is: Does anyone know if, after the LAX-SFO flight tomorrow morning, I will be able to check him in for the CO flight? Or can UA check him in tomorrow for the CO flt when he checks in and flies the earlier portion? It just seems kind of nuts that he can't even get onto the upgrade waitlist until airport check-in...
