Had hiking poles on a three-leg European journey over the new year weekend - got them through the first security and onboard, got them through the transfer area security in airport two and onboard - but at the last security checkpoint before the third flight, they were rejected and had to go through a lot of hassle to go back landside and have them checked.
Where is the consistency???
This is just one of a series of events highlighting what a farce airport security is these days - it's all a game for the galleries, enforced largely by a gang of bitter rejects from some job in the army/police/real security business.
My very firm belief is that if someone really wants to inflict damage, they can. Nobody in their right frame of mind can seriously believe that we're any safer in the air with the current security measures - and complete and utter lack of consistency?
Rant over.
